Academic Administrative Audit Committee

Academic Administrative Audit (AAA), are very essential for the excellence in Education system. These are interrelated concepts. Thus in order to have a quality oriented academic, there should be a strong administrative background. It can understood as a scientific and systematic method of reviewing the quality of academic process in the institution. It is related with the quality assurance and enhancing the quality of academic activities.

Antiragging Committee

Any Conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing , treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in any untoward or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.


Punishments for those found guilty of Ragging.(Any act of physical or mental abuse targeted at another student on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background).


Objective :

The main objectives of this cell are as follows:

• To aware the students of dehumanizing effect of ragging inherent in its perversity.

• To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.

• To promptly and stringently deal with the incidents of ragging brought to our notice.

• To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.

Anti Ragging Committee’s Functions: :

• Ragging is inhuman, heinous, uncultured, unethical, immoral and unacceptable.

• Students are strictly warned not to resort to ragging activities in any form in the college campus.

• Anti Ragging Committee is responsible to take action against the ragging students in the campus.

• If any Student who is harassed by ragging he/she should immediately bring it to the notice of Anti Ragging Committee for taking immediate action.

• Anti Ragging Committee members and senior student should take all the measures to instill confidence among the junior students.

Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging at the institution level shall be any one or any combination of the following:

  • Cancellation of Admission.
  • Suspension from attending classes.
  • Withholding / Withdrawing scholarship /fellowship and other benefits.
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process withholding results.
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, youth festival etc.
  • Suspension / expulsion from the hostel.
  • Rustication from the institution for period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters.
  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other Institution.
  • Collective punishment:

    •When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers.

    •As Per the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Ragging Act 1997, any student found directly or indirectly committing or participating in ragging or abetting propagating for ragging inside or outside the college shall be liable for Two year Imprisonment, Fine to the tune of Rs 2.5 Lakhs, Dismissal from college and shall not be admitted in any other Educational Institution

    •Preventive Measures to Eradicate Ragging in the Institution for the Academic Year 2018-2019

    •Anti –Ragging Committee and Anti – Ragging Squad are formed with the following committees. This Squad will make surprise raids on canteens, hostel messes, hostel rooms and play ground etc. The squad shall work under the overall guidance of Anti- Ragging Committee. The squad comprises of faculty members and student representative (seniors).The squad will function based on a pre- planned shift system.

    Discipline Committee

    The primary objective of the Discipline committee is to address and effectively solve various student related matters. Discipline and welfare committee is a bridge between students and authorities. The committee has to maintain a balance between student’s demands/problems and feasibility of solution provided by authorities.

    Examination Committee

    The Examination Monitoring System (EMS) committee is formulated to coordinate and systematize examinations. It indulges in designing proper examination profiles for the smooth functioning of curriculum accomplishment. The committee keeps a thorough track of discipline throughout the module of the session.

    Grievance and Redressal Committee

    Grievance Redressal Cell Committee facilitates the redressal of grievances in a fair and impartial manner maintaining confidentiality. A Grievance is any discontent or dissatisfaction, whether expressed or not, whether valid or not, arising out of anything connected with the Institute that a student or an employee thinks, believes, or even feels, is unfair, unjust or inequitable. A committee among faculty is constituted by the principal in consultation with HoDs and with the consent of Chairman, governing body for a period of one year.

    Objectives

    1. To ensure a fair, impartial and consistent way for redressal of various issues faced by the stakeholders.

    2. To uphold the dignity of the college by promoting cordial Student-Student relationship, Student-teacher relationship, and teacher-teacher relationship.

    3. To develop a responsive and accountable attitude among the stakeholders, thereby maintaining a harmonious atmosphere in the college campus.

    4. To ensure that grievances are resolved with complete confidentiality.

    5. To ensure that the views of grievant and respondent are respected and that any party to a grievance is not discriminated or victimised.

    Rules:

    • To deals with all the genuine grievances of students and staff of the college.

    • All complainants should file their grievances by writing in black and white to the committee.

    • All the grievances should be forwarded to GRC through their respective departmental Heads or Incharges.

    • The grievance Redressal committee will meet at least once in a month or as and when required to resolve the grievances.

    • To take conclusive decision by the deciding authority for removal of alleged grievances.

    Procedure:

    • A compliant box is provided in academic block for students.

    • All grievances referred to the Grievance Redressal committee shall be documented in a file in Principal’s Office.

    • All complaints should be resolved within a time frame by looking into its seriousness.

    • Any staff/ student may appeal directly to the Principal for resolving their grievance if he/she is dissatisfied by the GRC.

    Functional Framework of the Committee:

    The students approach the Cell to voice their grievances regarding Curriculum, Co-Curriculum and Extra Curriculum matters. The cell redresses the grievances at individual and class level and grievances of common interest. Students are encouraged to use the suggestion box placed on the campus to express constructive suggestions and grievances.

    Suggestion options are provided in every meeting and grievance records are maintained periodically. Complaints enforced in the meetings by students in written and oral complaints are also redressed. All complaints are scrutinized by the management and the grievance redressal cell. principal/HOD/Members (Teaching & Non Teaching Staff) regularly attends to these on requirement basis. The college assures students that once a complaint is made, it will be treated with confidentiality. Besides there is an exclusive mechanism to address the issues relating to women and their grievances.

    The Sexual Harassment Cell is constituted to provide for effective enforcement of the basic human rights of gender equality and guarantee against sexual harassment and abuse and to provide conducive atmosphere in the campus to all the students and staffs.It deals with cases of discrimination and sexual harassment against women, in a time bound manner, aiming at ensuring support services to the victimized and termination of the harassment issues.

    Women Empowerment cell

    Maintaining and strengthening the status of women, creating awareness on women’s rights and ensuring the safety and dignity of the female students and staffs.

    TIET’s WomenEmpowerment Cell endeavors to empower women and creating wider gender sensitivity so as to facilitate a pleasant working environment. Its objective is to create awareness among women so that they are not subjected to gender-specific discrimination or sexual harassment and ensure that their fundamental rights that are not violated.
